Bailey House will continue its long standing tradition of giving out Thanksgiving turkeys to those most in need and this year it will be done with style. With impeccable make-up, lots of cleavage and six inch stilettos, the Emperor and Empress and members of the Imperial Court of New York will be dressed to the nines to hand out over 200 turkeys to Bailey House clients.
Bailey House’s holiday season will start off with some extra sparkle as they hold their annual Turkey Drive Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, November 24th between 11am and 2pm. The ladies of the Court will doll themselves up and take over the new, vibrant Rand Harlan Center for Housing, Wellness, and Community, located in East Harlem, to pass out all the makings of a Thanksgiving feast. Clients will be treated to turkeys, mashed potatoes, stuffing, canned yams, green beans, oh, and huge hair and giant smiles all shades of red. Bailey House is honored to celebrate the holidays with the community it serves in such a unique way.
Bailey House’s relationship with the Imperial Court of New York goes back to a time when AIDS was a death sentence. The Imperial Court, with their good natured banter and humor, visited Bailey House clients with warm meals and entertained clients, particularly on holidays when loneliness sets in. For over 25 years, the two organizations have teamed up to generate support for Bailey House’s landmark housing and community programs. “The Imperial Court of New York is very near and dear to our hearts. When the need is great, they are always there to step up to the plate. We couldn’t do it without them.”, says Regina Quattrochi, CEO of Bailey House.
