Recently, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced its 2013 grantees for the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program.

Bailey House was one of 28 organizations nationally and the only organization in New York State to receive the grant. This grant renewal of $1.1 million will go to serve our Project FIRST program. Project FIRST helps formerly incarcerated individuals living with HIV/AIDS transition back into the community.

“These grants offer housing, vital healthcare and hope to hundreds of households that combine to literally save lives,” said HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan. “Having stable housing can make all the difference to the health of someone living with HIV/AIDS who might otherwise be struggling to live on our streets.”
